Leveraging sterile cell sorting of biohazard samples

We highlight the current challenges associated with research involving biohazard samples for cell sorting applications. We will review:
  • The safety challenges for researchers needing cell sorting of infectious and easily contaminated biological samples
  • The increasingly difficult use of flow core facilities and shared equipment for on-going daily research
  • How bench-top microfluidic-based cell sorting offers a flexible alternative to work independently of shared resources
We will highlight the use of sterile cell sorting for analyzing highly infectious biological samples such as bacterial, parasitic and viral microbial agents. By combining the WOLF® Cell sorter and single use microfluid cartridges, we will illustrate how to safely continue scientific research during the current global pandemic period and other possible roadblocks.
